I’m a grandma!!!!!

I became a grandmother on Wednesday April 20th 2011. My step daughter had her first child/son born at 6:30am my time. I got a call to my voicemail around 9:30am that morning and she said that she was a mommy and said that she had a story to tell me but boy I didn’t think that it would be anything like it turned out to be.

My step daughter lives on the East coast and we live here in the central US so were hundreds of miles away so we couldn’t be there with her, wish that we could have been.

She had her son at home by herself with no one there with her. No one!! no meds no doctors, no boyfriend no anyone or anything!!! I couldn’t believe it at first because you don’t hear a story like this too much at least I don’t!

She had contractions all through out the day on Monday. They were about 5 minutes apart and went on for an hour late afternoon on Monday and she went to the hospital and they kept her for an hour and she didn’t dilate so they sent her home!! Pathetic on their part right there!!!! So then she kept having them through out the night and Tuesday but didn’t go to the hospital because she wasn’t sure if they were the braxton hix ones or the for real ones and your scared enough being pg with your first child. So she didn’t go to the hospital….Wednesday morning comes around and her boyfriend leaves for work early in the morning b/c he has to be at work at 5am and she goes and takes a hot shower to help relieve the pain of the contractions since she was yet still having them…..she was in the shower, got out and had a hard one that made her sit down and she barely made it to the bed while her knees buckled bless her heart and then she got up and grabbed the phone and called 911 and within the 2 minutes that it took the ambulance to get to home the baby was delivered by herself and on her chest when they came in!!! I don’t know how the hell she did it and I give her all the kudos in the world because I don’t know that I would have been able to of held it together like she did and had the strength that she did to do what she did!!!

 

So she went to the hospital and they just let her out today Friday late afternoon. Mommy and son are doing great. I am very happy, excited and proud of her.
