Are kids responsible enough for netbooks in high school?
So I don't know but I am having doubts about this whole netbook thing. My kids are all teens, well youngest will be in a month and a half. And they are good kids, no trouble out of them or anything like that but they aren't all that great with responsibility of things sometimes. They have each misplaced there cells at one point, yes I know we have all done that but the point is that the schools are giving each high schooler (my son being a Freshman) a netbook and they are too take care of it and it is their's for the remainder of the time they are in school!! So since he is a Freshman, he will have it this year when they give it to him next week and have it for 4 years of high school...is that asking a little much out of them to keep up with a netbook for 4 years and keep it with them acting like it was a million dollars or something I mean come on really? And they are going to be giving the middle schoolers there's next year. So that will mean that the 7th and 8th graders next year will get there's and have to keep up with it 6 years?? My youngest will be a 7th grader next year and I just don't see him keeping up with it for 6 years!! I mean I don't see them messing it up or anything like that it just makes me nervous that they aren't going to misplace it or something. And they can get online BUT they have sites such as Facebook that EVERYONE gets on blocked! So they aren't able to get on there and chit chat with friends etc so what is the point of it then? If they don't have something that they can do on there besides school work I don't see that they are going to really care too much about it....ugh I am split on this, I want them to have them and take care of them and keep up with them but on the other hand I don't want them to have them, maybe once they are juniors then they would be old enough to understand that they are going to be responsible for it if anything happens but right now its the parents that are responsible for it if anything happens, so the kids go and lose it and we have to pay!
